 I was first drawn to Aisha’s unique style of illustrating simply from her profile picture. There was something so elegant about the way she had painted vines and leaves, and I was looking for someone to illustrate my book (Underneath the Mimosa Tree) which would include a bit of both, so I reached out to her. You would never guess we lived literally across the globe from one another, as our correspondence was not only seamless, but I can honestly say we became dear friends in the process. Not only is her work vibrant, and rich, and created from the heart- Aisha is incredibly professional. She works very quickly and took the time to listen and understand my vision for the book (and did a much more beautiful job than I’d even imagined!) Every step of the way was delightful and, although it’s been quite some time since we completed the book, she and I remain friends to this day.
